The Enhanced Risk Management program helps to better manage the various risks our hospitals encounter during normal day-to-day activities. By appointing a risk manager and setting clear policies, we hope to take a proactive, systematic approach to identifying, monitoring, assessing, managing and controlling risk in both clinical and non-clinical settings across UHN.
Risk is defined as "the potential for an event, action or inaction to adversely affect an organization's ability to achieve one or more of its business objectives."
Examples of risks include:
1) medication errors
2) diagnostic errors
3) breaches of confidentiality
4) theft of intellectual property
