Research

Nurse leaders at University Health Network (UHN) are committed to developing, publishing, and sharing innovative research projects designed to enhance nursing knowledge and improve health, quality of life, patient care, and quality of work-life. Nursing research at UHN is guided by the following assumptions:

  1. University Health Network is committed to excellence in patient-centered care.
  2. Excellence in patient-centered care arises with pursuit of new knowledge and innovation through development of a research culture.
  3. A research culture in nursing at University Health Network will create an environment to develop nurse scholars/practitioners who have a commitment to being accountable to the people served by nursing; listening to what people say is important for their health; honoring people’s opinions about issues related to their health; respecting people’s right to self-determination; and providing competent, compassionate and safe care.

The development of a research culture in nursing at UHN is guided by goals in three major areas: research development, innovation in care delivery, and achievement of international presence in nursing.
