Clinical Studies Resource Centre

Clinical and basic research fuels our understanding of disease and helps us develop new therapies, drugs and interventions to help improve patients’ health and quality of life. To help UHN researchers plan and manage research projects, the Clinical Studies Resource Centre (CSRC) encourages UHN researchers to contact the centre for any research need, including space, resources and guidance.

CSRC provides assistance to investigators on a cost-recovery basis in four key areas:

  1. Biostatistics– biostatisticians provide help with statistical methods, questionnaire development, study design, and data analysis
  2. Study coordination – clinical research coordinators available on a contract basis to coordinate administrative responsibilities, patient recruitment and follow-up
  3. Investigational drug service – pharmacists ensure that drugs used in clinical research studies comply with regulations
  4. Data management – the CSRC team is available to assist in the coordination of single or multi-centre studies, including CRF design, database development, data entry, management and analysis

CSRC also provides these valuable services at no charge:

Resource and reference library
Advice on budget development, consent writing and REB submissions

Exam rooms for patient research visits

A gathering point for UHN researchers
To help researchers at UHN stay connected to their research teams and up to date on current issues, the CSRC provides regular information updates by e-mail to more than 400 researchers and coordinators. The Research Resource, the CSRC’s quarterly newsletter, includes submissions from researchers, coordinators and CSRC staff. We also host monthly research rounds, featuring research presentations from our own investigators, and lunchtime seminars on a variety of research topics, featuring UHN speakers as well as special guests from the research community.
