Our program is based on principles of client choice, mutual respect, information sharing, and empowerment. With these values in mind, we provide health programs and services targeted to populations in the local community surrounding Toronto Western Hospital.
In particular, we strive to meet the needs of women who may be:
• |
caregivers, putting the health and well-being of family members ahead of their own |
• |
struggling to earn enough money to support their families new to the community and without the social support of friends or extended family |
• |
unfamiliar with the Canadian health system |
• |
unable to speak English |
The program’s interdisciplinary team includes a dietitian, primary nurse practitioner, woman abuse coordinator, health promoter, administrative assistant, and program manager. Together we provide individual and group services, such as health screening, health promotion, health education, and some treatment and referral services.
Our key areas of focus include the following:
• |
Pre and post-natal care |
• |
|
• |
Reproductive health |
• |
Healthy aging |
• |
Woman abuse |
To help make it easier for women in the community to access our services, many of our programs are offered in the community, at women’s shelters and local agencies.
