Mariya Bakalets
Clinical Trials Coordinator

After graduating with honors from Humber College in 2003, Mariya Bakalets worked as a Registered Nurse on the Neurosurgery/Spinal unit at Toronto Western Hospital where she provided nursing care to patients suffering from different neurological disorders, trauma as well as brain tumors. She has always been fascinated by clinical trials and its major impact on healthcare, hence she enrolled in the Clinical Research Program offered by the Kriger Research Centre on-line. In December 2006 she accepted a position as a clinical research nurse at The Pencer Brain Tumor Centre.

Her responsibilities include enrolling patients into clinical trials, monitoring them for adverse events, following them during clinic visits, providing support to the patients and their families. In addition, she is involved in the other aspects of clinical trials such as administrative activities and regulatory issues.
