Dr. Warren Mason, MD, FRCPC
Medical Director, The Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumor Centre
Dr. Warren Mason was appointed Medical Director of The Gerry & Nancy Pencer Brain Tumor Centre when it opened in November 1998. Dr. Mason guides and supervises The Pencer Centre’s groundbreaking approach to patient care: “Having experts from a wide variety of disciplines working together in one location creates a patient-centred clinic that is unique in Canada, as well as an extremely dynamic research environment,” said Dr. Mason.
He is Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Mason is a member of many other professional organizations, including the Canadian Neurological Society, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, CNS Site National Cancer Institute of Canada, and the Canadian Brain Tumour Consortium. Prior to joining the Pencer Centre, he had been on staff at The Toronto Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) for two years. Dr. Mason is a graduate of The University of Toronto Medical School, and completed residency training in Internal Medicine and Neurology. Following his residency, Dr. Mason completed a Fellowship in Neurology and Neurooncology in New York. He is the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, including the Merit Award, American Association of Clinical Oncology (1996). He has authored or co-authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed publications that focus on the treatment of brain tumours; and he is a sought-after guest speaker at national and international medical conferences.
