Strategic Directions - Moving Toward 2011

Overview | Clinical Activity Target Setting Process | Clinical Activity Target Setting Results | Program Element Recommendations | Planning our Future Reference Guide

What can we expect the future face of health care to look like at University Health Network (UHN) 10 years from now? Who will our patients be and what needs will they have? Who will deliver care and what technologies will we use?

These are just a few of the many questions UHN is striving to answer through our long-term planning process, Strategic Directions. The world of health care is constantly changing and we need to plan today for the realities of tomorrow.

During the next decade, external forces such as human resources shortages, constrained funding and an aging and increasingly diverse patient population will shape the healthcare system. We must try to predict what role information technology and new diagnostic tests and treatments will play in the future delivery of care so we can develop our plans now.

This means researching the trends and taking a pulse on the health-care system as a whole. It's a big job but we're right on track thanks to the dedication of our staff and community partners who are working diligently to predict the future face of health care at UHN.

Whether you are a patient, member of the community or job hunter, we hope you'll take a moment to browse our Strategic Planning Web site to find out more about how UHN is planning for the future.
