Allied Health - Social Work
UHN Social Workers are key members of all of our programs and services. They are a primary connection between the team, patient and family and community resources. They are involved in the coordination of the patient care experience, from admission to discharge. One of the Social Worker's responsibilities is to help patients and families effectively deal with changes in health status and through treatment, improve health status. Some specialty inpatient and outpatient areas include eating disorders, neuroscience, transplant, cardiac, oncology and community mental health and addictions.
Social Workers provide clinical teaching to Undergraduate and Graduate Social Work students, medical students and professional colleagues; present at professional conferences; and conduct and collaborate in relevant research activities and projects. Support staff for all of these initiatives are provided in order to facilitate staff involvement.
