Allied Health - Speech Language Pathology

Speech Language Pathology at University Health Network has a great tradition of providing excellent service to patients with communication and swallowing difficulties and enjoys a strong reputation within the professional community. It is widely regarded as one of the most innovative speech-language pathology services in the city and is considered a driving force within the profession. A longstanding commitment to the Academic and Research mandate of the institution has been demonstrated.

At Toronto Western Hospital, inpatients are serviced across all clinical program areas including Neurology, Neurosurgery, General Internal Medicine and ICU. In addition, specialized outpatient services are provided through the Outpatient Swallowing Clinic and the Child and Adolescent Health Unit. At Toronto General Hospital, inpatients are also serviced across all clinical programs, including Cardiac, ICU and General Internal Medicine. The Neurolaryngology Clinic, which is a joint venture between Speech-Language Pathology and Otolaryngology, provides multidisciplinary assessment and treatment of voice disorders resulting from neurological cases, most commonly spasmodic dysphonia and vocal tremor. Inpatient services are provided to a range of oncology patients at Princess Margaret Hospital. Patients with cancers of the head are followed at Toronto General during their surgical treatment and then followed as outpatients at Princess Margaret Hospital within a multi professional clinic setting. A full range of service is provided to patients undergoing laryngectomy, including Tracheo-Esophageal Voice Restoration.
