Volunteering at UHN

 

Regular Program
Our regular program is available to non-students who are seeking meaningful ways to help others.

Candidates should meet the following requirements:
○	Reliable, Punctual, Professional and Positive
○	Able to commit to the same day each week for 3-4 hours for at least 140 hours
○	Able to communicate at an advanced level of English

Recruitment for this program is ongoing so there is no application deadline.

Opportunities
Volunteer Resources recognizes how important the gift of time is. We are committed to enriching the experience of our volunteers and have developed opportunities in 4 key areas which include:

○	Patient Support
○	Staff Support
○	Special Events
○	Leadership Opportunities

Patient Support roles allow volunteers to interact with patients and/or their families as they go through their hospital visit. Examples of patient support include: Clinics, Inpatient Units, Waiting rooms, Information desk

Staff Support opportunities provide volunteers to gain exposure to light administrative duties such as photocopying, filing and answering telephones. Examples of staff support are found in: Clinics, Human Resources, Volunteer Resources, Foundations

Special Events are a great way for committed volunteers to enhance their volunteer commitment. Examples of special events include: Daffodil Sales, Book Sales, Corporate Fundraising Initiatives.

Leadership Opportunities provide longstanding volunteers the chance to give back to the volunteer resources department. Examples of leadership opportunities include: Volunteer training, Orientation session, Volunteer Advisory Committee
