Volunteering at UHN
Student Program
Our Student Program is designed to provide those who are pursuing academic studies with
an opportunity to give back to the community in a way that is structure organized and
predictable.
Candidates should meet the following requirements: |

| ○ | At least 16 years of age |

| ○ | Reliable, Punctual, Professional and Positive | |
| ○ | Able to commit to the same day each week for 3-4 hours for at least 6 months | |
| ○ | Able to communicate at an advanced level of English | |
Recruitment for this program is scheduled.
Application Deadlines
Fall Acceptance: July 14th – September 5th 2008
Winter Acceptance: October 27th – December 3rd 2008
Opportunities
Volunteer Resources recognizes how important the gift of time is. We are committed to enriching the experience of our volunteers and have developed opportunities in 4 key areas which include:

Patient Support roles allow volunteers to interact with patients and/or their families as they go through their hospital visit. Examples of patient support include: Clinics, Inpatient Units, Waiting rooms, Information desk
Staff Support opportunities provide volunteers to gain exposure to light administrative duties such as photocopying, filing and answering telephones. Examples of staff support are found in: Clinics, Human Resources, Volunteer Resources, Foundations
Special Events are a great way for committed volunteers to enhance their volunteer commitment. Examples of special events include: Daffodil Sales, Book Sales, Corporate Fundraising Initiatives
Leadership Opportunities provide longstanding volunteers the chance to give back to the volunteer resources department. Examples of leadership opportunities include: Volunteer training, Orientation session, Volunteer Advisory Committee
