Centre for Innovation in Complex Care (CICC)

University Health Network’s Centre for Innovation in Complex Care (CICC) is committed to improving global healthcare through innovation and the dissemination of new best practices. The CICC is dedicated to the research and application of innovative solutions to address problems associated with the increasing complexity and demand on the healthcare system. We aim to pioneer new solutions for problems in complex healthcare that enrich quality of care, the experiences of both the patients and care providers, and the sustainability of the system.

To achieve these goals, the CICC brings together leaders from diverse backgrounds to not only research a problem, but to discover opportunities and solutions which can be implemented and evaluated directly in the clinical environment. Our interprofessional team includes physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, researchers, designers, engineers and health informatics experts all dedicated to improving patient safety and quality of care.The diversity within the CICC and the direct access to the clinical environment create a unique environment within healthcare that fosters innovation from a bottom-up, bedside approach. Through the CICC’s example of using new thinking and integrating different types of professionals toward a common goal, we see real hope for positive change in healthcare.
