Medical Imaging
The Medical Imaging department at the University Health Network is part of the Joint Department of Medical Imaging. As the largest comprehensive medical imaging department in Canada, our cutting-edge technology and highly trained staff are instrumental in the diagnosis, assessment, planning and treatment delivery for patients at the University Health Network’s Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital and Toronto Rehab, as well as Mount Sinai and Women’s College Hospitals.
As leaders in medical imaging globally, we continually strive to evolve our program and technology to meet international best-practice and technology standards so that we can provide timely, accurate feedback to our patients and clinical staff. As part of this, we actively participate in research and are leading several eHealth innovations and software development initiatives.
We provide the following imaging services:
- General radiography (All Sites)
- Ultrasound (All Sites)
- CT Scan (All Sites)
- MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) (All Sites)
- Mammography (Princess Margaret, Mount Sinai and Women’s College Hospitals)
- Vascular intervention (Toronto General, Toronto Western and Mount Sinai Hospitals)
- Nuclear medicine (Toronto General, Mount Sinai and Women’s College Hospitals)
Supported by a dedicated team of technical and clerical staff, our radiologists are sub-specialized in:

For Referring Physicians external to the University Health Network:
The MRI Request Form is PDF writeable and can be accessed via the link below; enabling external referring physicians to type directly into the form, print, sign and fax to the Joint Department of Medical Imaging.
Typed requisitions will improve overall legibility and completeness of the forms we receive. Please note this electronic version cannot be populated and saved, but must be printed, signed and faxed to the appropriate number indicated on top of the form.
