Pre-Admission Clinic (TWH)
Note: New Location - Main Pavilion 1st Floor, Room 406
Toronto Western Hospital's Pre-admit Clinic ensures that all tests, assessments and educational information are available to patients and family prior to surgery. We can be found on the main floor of the hospital behind the main lobby. After being referred by their surgeon, patients visit our clinic at least 48 hours before surgery.
Please Note: Your visit may take from two to four hours.
Once patients have been registered in admitting, they proceed across the hall for one of several services we offer.
Our services:
- Nursing assessment
- Anesthesia assessment
- Medical assessment
- X-rays
- Blood tests
- Blood conservation program
- Pre-operative teaching
- Information for patients about the Surgery Admission Unit

We also provide autologous blood donations on the unit for those patients who are donating their own blood prior to surgery. The unit has clerical and nursing staff working closely together to ensure patients and their families are fully informed as to their impending hospital visit.
Telehealth consultations provide care to patients who may otherwise not have affordable and convenient access to appropriate health-care services. There may be a chance for patients to have their assessments in their local hospital via the Internet if they live far from Toronto.
