Telehealth

What happens during a Telehealth visit?

A Telehealth appointment is similar to a regular check-up. The only difference is that your doctor sees and talks to you through a television screen.

When you arrive for your appointment, your local Telehealth Coordinator will explain what will happen during the visit. You will be asked to sign a consent form that gives us permission to do your Telehealth visit.

You may be asked to change into a gown, depending on the type of appointment you are having.

Your appointment happens in a private room. The Telehealth Coordinator usually stays with you. If you would like to have a friend or family member with you, please do so.

Your visit will be like a face-to-face appointment except that you will see and talk to your healthcare provider live on TV. Sometimes, we use a special hand-held zoom camera to get close up views of any problem areas. Your health care provider may use a digital stethoscope to examine you. These are like the ones used if you were visiting in person.

At UHN, your UHN health care provider is in a private room. This keeps your information and conversation private and confidential.
