“I am delighted and honoured to be able to help other patients benefit from the Hand Program. This is a small token of my appreciation for the meticulous care and treatment I was given.”
Helping Underprivileged Patients Gain Access
to Acute Care
A fractured wrist, following a fall on the winter ice, led Charlie McDonald to Dr. Herb von Schroeder’s Hand Program at TWH. Surgery and six months of therapy later, Charlie recovered full use of his dominant right hand. He wrote many three-hour exams without any symptoms of the injury and is planning to return to studying the piano.
Charlie showed his appreciation of the care and treatment he received by establishing the Splints and Braces Fund that supports patients who are in difficult financial situation.
