PMCC Lobby Construction

Peter Munk Cardiac Centre

As part of the $37 million donation from Peter and Melanie Munk, The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre Campaign is renovating the Norman Urquhart Lobby at Toronto General Hospital (University Avenue entrance).

This donation has already enhanced technology for diagnosis and treatment of patients. The Centre is home to the 320-slice CT scanner, one of just a few of such machines in the world, and is one of the many new technologies purchased with the Munks’ donation that allows cardiac and other diseases to be diagnosed with unparalleled confidence.

Here is an artist’s vision of the new lobby:

Construction will begin August 4 with an estimated completion date of May 2010.  Affected areas include the north University Ave entrance, including the stairway and lobby space up to Tim Horton’s. The Pharmacy, Medical Imaging, Tim Hortons and Tutti Fruitti will be accessible during construction via the staircase behind the West Elevators and a walkway.

West Elevators #1 and 2 will provide patients and visitors access to the first floor (1R). Look for blue signs directing patients and visitors to the staircase behind the West Elevators that provides access to the first floor.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank-you for your patience.  Please contact Patient Relations (416-340-4907) if you have any questions or concerns.
