 Q. When I type log in it takes me into the eLearning Centre briefly and then kicks me out and brings me back to the log in screen.

A1. This happens if you are an employee who is not active in the system. Are you on temporary leave? If so please email elearning@uhn.on.ca to activate your account while you are on leave.

A2. This happens if you recently exited the system incorrectly. The system still thinks you are connected and will not let you log back in. Wait 5 minutes and try logging in again. How can you tell if this is the problem you are experiencing? After you are returned to the log in page, look at your Internet Explorer Address bar.  Q. There are so many different ways of starting a course. How do I know which one to choose? What are the differences?

A. The first time you star a course a Start course link will appear. Click Start Course to launch the course. After you have launched a course for the first time, the buttons change to Continue Course, Restart and Cancel This.

Continue course allows you to continue the course from where you left off. Choose this link if you do not want to start over from the beginning.
Restart Course will restart the course from the beginning.
Cancel This will cancel your status in the course.

 Q. When I click the Restart link I get a message that says it will restart all test scores. What does this mean?

A. The restart link restarts the course from the beginning. If you click this link your test scores will be deleted and you will be required to start the course over from the beginning.

 Q. I just received a message that says there is a potential security flaw! What should I do?

A. Please click Yes to continue.

 Q. On the screen I see a message that says that a pop-up blocker may prevent online content from launching. I have a popup blocker. What should I do?

A. If you are using a computer at UHN you don’t have to do anything. UHN computers do not have popup blockers installed. If you are working from home you must disable your popup blocker in order to launch a course.

 Q. I started my course and nothing happens! All that is displayed is the following message “Course is in progress”. What should I do?

A. There are two possible answers to this question.

Solution 1: Are you running the course from home? Do you have a pop-up blocked turned on? Our system relies on pop-ups to launch online courses. When you start or continue a course it opens in another window. If you have your pop-up blocker turned on it will prevent the course from opening in another window. UHN does not use pop up blockers. You will not encounter this problem if you are running the course from a computer at UHN. Turn your pop up blocker off. Log out of the Learning Centre and then log back in.

Solution 2: Is the course open in a window that is running in the background? It’s possible that the course is running in a window in the background. Check and see if the course is open in another Internet Explorer windows to see if the course is running in the background.

 Q. When I click Start, Restart or Continue I see a message that says “Sorry… this course could not be started”. What should I do?

A. This message will appear if a course is already running in the background.

Solution 1: If you are launching this course from home. Make sure your popup blocker is turned off.

Solution 2: Did you close your last course properly? Make sure that there are no other courses open in the background. The eLearning Centre will only launch one course at a time.

Solution 3: Have you just recently closed and reopened the system? It is important that you log out properly when you exit the system. If you didn’t log out using the log out button or if you forgot to close your eLearning Centre Internet Explorer window when you exited, the system may think you are still running a course in the background. Close all Internet Explorer buttons and then re-open Internet Explorer and log in to the system again.

 Q. What is the difference between the Course Detail and the Course Content tab?

A. The course detail tab provides basic information about the course such as the course description and your status in the course. The course content tab displays details information about your status in the course. You can restart the course by clicking on the Restart link or you can review the course by clicking on the Review link.

 Q. What is the Review link?

A. The Review link is available under the Course Content tab. Click on Review if you want to review the course but do not want to change your course status. Reviewing a course will not reset your course scores.
