A transfusion is given to replace blood and/or blood parts that are low in your body. The blood used for transfusion comes from people who donate their blood to Canadian Blood Services.
As part of your treatment, you may need to have a transfusion, which means that blood and/or blood products will be put into your body to protect your health. The following information will help you to understand why you might need a transfusion and the risks and benefits of transfusion.
