Patient Education Network
Princess Margaret Hospital
Patient Education Research program
The University Health Network (UHN) is a place of exemplary patient care, education and innovative research. As part of providing the best possible patient-centered care, all members of the healthcare team at UHN share a commitment to patient education, and work together as patient educators while managing the underlying disease or condition.
In the Patient Education Network at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH), we are developing best-practice models for patient education, incorporating evidence-based research and program evaluation. Through our research activities, we strive to:
- Be leaders in researching and developing best-practice education models for patient-centred care in oncology.
- Be a major voice for patients, and those who create and utilize knowledge in patient education.
- Prepare patient educators and educational leaders, and apply patient education research in the healthcare institutions of Canada and the world.
- Achieve global impact through the quality of our patient education research, service and staff, which together lead to optimal healthcare outcomes and make essential contributions to the health of current and future generations of patients.
- Provide international leadership in patient education research and practitioner education.
- Promote and disseminate the highest quality interdisciplinary scholarship and research in patient education
- Promote inter-professional and inter-disciplinary partnerships in patient education research.
