What is it?
West Nile is a virus transmitted by mosquitoes, which can cause meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain or spinal cord) or encephalitis (inflamation of the brain). The West Nile virus is found in the blood of infected birds. Mosquitoes may become infected after biting the birds and may then transmit it to humans.
