Emily Musing is UHN’s Patient Safety Officer and Executive Director of Pharmacy, Clinical Risk and Quality.
| As the Patient Safety Officer, Emily is responsible for: |

| • | Leading and facilitating initiatives to promote patient safety at UHN |
| • | Promote a culture of patient safety |
| • | Investigating the root cause of incidents to determine quality improvement actions, process changes and learnings |
| • | Develop and implement ongoing communication strategies and staff education to promote patient safety |
| • | Support the Quality of Care Committee and its delegates on review and assessment of patient and visitor related incidents |
| • | Support patient safety and quality presentations to the Quality Committee of the Board |
| • | Present patient safety case examples to the Board of Trustees to engage them on patient safety issues |
| • | Present patient safety issues to the Medical Advisory Committee to engage UHN Medical Leadership in patient safety issues and initiatives |
| • | Support the VP Medical Affairs in patient safety projects within his portfolio |
| • | Support program quality teams at UHN on best practice initiatives and provincial reporting of data |
| • | Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with external organizations with a shared focus on patient safety |
