The Toronto Hospital Health Sciences Libraries offers a number of services to meet the information needs of TTH staff, physicians and students.
We provide Document Delivery
This service is only available to the The Toronto Hospital staff physicians and students. Clients may request books and journals from the library at the other division at no cost. Turnaround time is usually the next day.
Items not available in the TTH libraries may be requested from other locations. For each item borrowed there is a flat fee, plus any additional cost charged by the lending library. Materials usually arrive within three to four days. Requests can be made in person by filling out a request form, by telephone or via e-mail. Please provide as much information as possible.
For non TTH staff, document delivery is available through HealthSearch.
We conduct Literature Searching
The library offers literature searches on both in-house and online databases. Clients are billed a flat fee per search plus the actual costs of online time if applicable. Printouts are ready for pickup within 24 hours.
We set up SDI searches
An SDI (Selective Dissemination of Information) is a saved computer search strategy which is executed against the latest database update. An SDI is an excellent way to monitor the newest development in your area of interest.
An SDI strategy is run against our in-house Medline (or other databases) on CD-ROM. That information is usually three months behind the actual publication. Your search can be emailed to you or a print version sent via hospital internal mail. Please ask regarding costs.
We offer training on Medline and other databases
Group training sessions on the hospital's OVID databases are held in the TTH libraries for TTH staff and students.

We provide Photocopying facilities
Photocopiers are available for use by clients at both sites. Copicards can be used at either site. TTH medical students, clinical clerks, and PGYs are entitled to free copies. Hospital and medical staff may purchase Copicards in various denominations. Charges are 10 cents per copy.
