| Helping patients participate
in their health care |
At
Toronto General Hospital (TGH), we understand the importance
of participating in your health care. Our health-care
providers offer education so that you, our patients
and families, understand your medical condition or disease.
This will help you to make informed choices about your
health care. While in our hospital, you will receive
education from different health-care professionals.
We base our patient education on professional best
practice guidelines and evidence-based research.
TGH offers a variety of patient education programs.
From its internationally recognized Transplant education
program to its comprehensive Cardiac Care Centre, education
is an integral part of patient care. Every clinic
and service offers patient education materials. In addition
to printed materials, many programs offer classes, support
groups, videos, instructional CDs and mentors.
We
want our patients and families to be informed about
their health. We want our patients and families to
be able to communicate with their health-care team.
This Web site offers tips and information that will
prepare you for care at TGH. This Web site will continue
to grow and expand. We will provide you with current
information to help you be an educated health care consumer.
Keep watching for additional information and health-care
tips.
