The Immunodeficiency Clinic provides specialized outpatient medical monitoring
and treatment for HIV/AIDS disease and its complications. We also provide
counselling to help patients deal with related pharmacological, psychological,
social, functional and nutritional concerns.
Our services:
- timely co-management with referring family physicians
- inpatient services
- relevant community resources
- access (for qualifying patients) to state-of-the-art clinical trials
and investigational drugs through an extensive research program
The clinic is responsible for educating graduate and student
physicians and allied health professionals. We also educate
AIDS service organization
workers and patients through a wide variety of educational
programs, including formal residencies and internships,
clinical trainee-ships,
conferences,
weekly grand rounds, public forums and maintenance of a
comprehensive Web site and patient resource centre.
The clinic receives consumer and community input through an advisory group
comprised of AIDS service organizations, patients and staff. The clinic
is a fully accredited teaching program affiliated with the University of
Toronto.
