At the University Health Network Department of Anesthesia, there are over 60 faculty who work and teach in the three hospitals. The regional anesthesia and pain management program is highly prioritized in the Department of Anesthesia. The majority of regional anesthesia cases are performed at the Toronto Western Hospital, where chronic pain and acute pain services are also provided to patients. The acute pain research unit is based at the Toronto General Hospital, while the Princess Margaret Hospital manages cancer pain. The Wasser Pain Management Centre is a multidisciplinary pain centre based at the Mount Sinai Hospital.
